A few years ago, on a humid summer trip to New England, I was hot, sticky, and frustrated by the extra layer of a bra. I finally took it off—and that small moment sparked a big question: Why are we wearing these at all?

I didn’t need one for support. So was I wearing it out of habit? Social pressure? Would others feel uncomfortable if my body wasn’t “shaped” a certain way? That curiosity turned into long conversations and deep dives into women’s experiences. What I heard, again and again, was simple: most women don’t actually like bras. They’re uncomfortable, inconvenient, and for many, emotionally exhausting. While larger‑busted women understandably wanted support, nearly everyone feared being judged as “unprofessional” or “rogue” without one.

It surprised me. Bras are a relatively new invention—early 1900s—and they were created to make clothes look better, not because women needed them. Many women lived comfortably without bras for centuries, and in much of the world, they still do. Yet in the U.S., wearing a bra became so normalized that the alternative feels rebellious.

Even with all the so‑called comfort innovations, I kept wondering: Do we actually need bras?

That question inspired me to start experimenting with apparel that would make going braless feel comfortable, natural, and socially effortless. That’s how Bralessly was born—super‑soft shirts with a patented Bust Panel™ that offers modesty and ease, without wires, straps, or compression.

I launched in 2020, then paused to start a cut‑and‑sew factory. For five years, I focused on building products for other brands. But with shifting market pressures—tariffs, slower demand—it became clear it was time to return to the idea that started it all.

Now I’m ready to focus fully on Bralessly again. Not just to make shirts, but to give women something deeper: a quiet confidence, a sense of ease, a feeling of being at home in their own bodies.

And now, with everything I’ve learned, I can build this brand under one roof.

Live Bralessly.
